Has anyone tried one I need a gold one for my flying V the original gold ABR-1 was collapsed I used a Gibson new production ABR-1
the gold plating looks wrong heck I compared the original 1958 tuners to current production the gold plating on the 1958 tuners weighs one gram more
in gold plating each. the new ABR-1 is an eye sore to me.

Buy an ABR-1 and have it gold plated.
I think there are plating shops that would do that.
But if the bridge is an exact replica, won't it collapse too? (again)

No answer on the bridge.

But as for gold plating. The tuners on my 1974 Ovation still look like new. From what I’ve read, newer plating is thinner than “back in the day” and does wear. Ultimately, not holding up.

I’m a big fan of gold and brass. None of the new / replacement parts match. I take comfort that they will age, weather, dull pretty quick with regulars use.

The ABR-1 works better with nylon saddles.
It seems to keep the microphonic feedback squealing under control better than the metal saddles.
