So, I've decided to put my old X3 Live processor back into the rotation. The main reason is the flexibility that it affords. Plus, I've got some ideas in mind to expand it's usefulness a bit and freshen up it's tone.

This is it's current iteration. On the far right is a switch box I made so that I can swap between two guitars without having to unplug. I've affixed the power supply to the board with aluminum flat stock, seen on the upper right corner. The Ernie Ball pedal, next to the switch, is another expression pedal. I have all my patches programmed so the Ernie Ball pedal is used only for volume and the on-board pedal is used only for wah.

One idea I have is to add an external IR pedal in the effects loop of the processor so I can get better cabinet emulation.

I'm also redoing several patches and reorganizing them to improve workflow.

For what little i use FX for, I have still used this since I first got one in 2010. It still holds up today as far as sound quality. I use it mainly as an EQ/booster/chorus and noise gate but its modeling capabilities arent bad either. Lacks a lil in recording direct because it doesnt quite get the cab sim down like an IR or real micing can but like you are doing, will work fine.

I got a 24bit digital interface to mic the final product from the amp speakers, which is 6 of one/half a dozen of the other in terms of fixing the cab si. problem

Had a pod 300 -- was a great pedal well made ...good tones....if I hadnt got the Ampero Id still have the pod

so much line 6 hate out there.....but the products ....are solid

sorta like peavey the "love to hate em" brand...... but they just keep on keeping on

I've been through several iterations of the Boss multi-effects processors.
ME-50, GT-8, GT-10, and now the GT-100.
I traded up to the GT-100 soon after getting a DSL40CR and use it in 4CM with MIDI switching.
It's great for 'in-unit' volume levelling of the four 40CR modes and their various discrepancies.
I use it mainly for NR, front ODs, with EQ and reverbs in the loop. No preamp sims or cabs.
I do have some crazy processed ambient patches, à la Cocteau Twins, with harmonizers, chorus and deep reverbs.
But mostly I just squeeze a little more refinement from the DSL preamp.
The factory patches hardly get a look in, but they all bypass the DSL preamp in the default 'onboard FX loop OFF' mode.
The only pedals I enhance it with are two FS-5Us for extra effects switching options.
Plus, I can route the other stereo out to my VS65R (SS) FX Return for a stereo setup.

The new GX-100 does look sorely tempting though.
Mainly for the ability to program the PC# sent and therefore choose the DSL modes in a bank, instead of the fixed Classic, Classic, Ultra, Ultra of the GT-100.
