Hi guys..

Ive got a question for amp techs…..


My DSL100HR after 5y owing, it gave me my first problem….


I gig with this amp, and mostly use on 50w mode. Going through 4x12 or whats available at venue during shows.

I have run it through bass Marshals 4x12 cab few times…

So the problem is…

Today it started to cut out sound….. everything is on but no sound…, I flipped std by switch between 100w 0 and 50w and sound came back.

My bassist works as a tech and he’ll take a look but what could be the issue?

Replace the switch those switches do go bad. It's a slide switch?
I wouldn't depend on cleaning the switch.
Another trick is: don't operate the switch when the power is on, the contacts fry too easily.
Only operate the switch when the power is off.

2. The 16 ohm speaker jack: This is another problem point.
The jack has switch contacts which go bad.
These switch contacts can be jumpered / bypassed to prevent the problem.

Yes, it is the switch. Replace it and never use the 50W mode again.
Just buy another rocker switch and if you can get a higher spec one.

I don't think it's a rocker switch. It's a slide switch as far as I remember.

It is a rocker switch and the contacts are getting corroded or the spring inside gets weak or stuck so the switch can´t make a good enough connection.
Sometimes it seems to work fine but it is not getting better. One side works 100W/50W the other one not that well etc.
You can repair it but a new one is not that pricey and it will work again for years.

When I first experience a switch starting to give me problems, I make plans to replace it....soon!

^^^^This, too.

Even on a switch that is not subject to high voltages the spring can weaken and make the switch unreliable.
