Don't Judge a Book by its Cover!

Very cool. Shes ripping it.

As I was listening, I asked my wife what she thought the player looked like.

Without hesitation she says, "a fat bald guy with glasses, like on Dexter"

Then I showed her...." Wow, she's jamming....."

Can't always tell the book from many angles, sometimes.

Ahh, Relic, ya saw the vid on my "Slap to the Head" thread!

Yup. She wails on that Lester like a boss!

That banner behind her says, "North Atlantic Blues Festival."

North Atlantic? That's sorta, kinda our neck of the woods, Relic!

It's like Bluegrass meets Blues meets Rock 'n' Roll meets...I'm gonna hit you with a rolling pin!

There's also some cool basswork at around 6:37.

I don't think there is anything like a pattern when it comes to what musicians look like...

Ah, funny enough.... no, I didn't. This popped up when I was YouTubing some Steely Dan guitar solos last night! You know how YouTube is with its suggestions man, if something is getting hits & has relative keywords as a search (solo) your pumpin chances are you're eventually gonna get it as a suggested video.

Wow,i think shes picked that guitar up a time or 3.

I think what truly impresses me about this extra large woman is that she has aggression & control over her guitar that most women never muster. You know, they play like girls & are just different. Even the really good ones, they are just different. This big lady owned that fvk'ng guitar, controlled it, made it her bitch & forced it to sing!

Yes a time or 3 fer sure. She has put in the hours & can play with attitude & emotion.

And I hate to judge this book by its cover either but it certainly would have helped if the 2nd guitar players momma taught him to close his mouth & not come off as such a 'mouth breather'!

Yeah. That's one of the things I caught, too.

Did you catch how, at times, she slides past the neck pickup to get the notes she wants?

This lady means business.

I'd like to see her and Billy Gibbons in a Les Paul-fueled guitar shoot out!

That's just too weird. I put that video on my "Slapped to the head" thread, not ten minutes before you posted this! I thought you had seen it there.

That's funny.

I had a much earlier video of Joanna pop up as a suggested video that I thought would be interesting to post here. Obviously she was once younger & much much thinner...

And here is a very informative 'Artist Series' sit-down interview with Mz Connor filmed when she was 51 that breaks down her musical history & formative influences (Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal) & learning to play slide at 15.

Oh yeah I seent dat $#it! LOL

She has been a serious guitar player going on 50 years or so with lots of gigs under her expanding belt (sorry, fat joke) and it looks like some of these gigs were pretty big deals.

Boy it's gotta be hard to not only get old & loose that young figure & health but to go from prominent gigs to small bar venues & the occasional open air gig at god knows where. Yet she carries on with little to no dampening of her spirit or enthusiasm for playing & performing.

Better to burn out than fade away
