Well I had read a while back ago, they want to put Dolly in the RocknRoll Hall Of Fame. She mentioned she didn't want to be inducted. But i read the other day, that she will be inducted. She mentioned she is going to do a rock album.

As much as I have respect for Dolly, I don't believe for a moment her doing a rock album qualifies her to be a Hall Of Fame inductee. Its like Ozzy being inducted into the Country Hall Of Fame, come on people, there are many genuine rockers out there that deserve to have this honor, Dolly is not one of them..

Yeah I saw that too. It's a shame what a sham the RRHOF has become. When they began loading up rappers and strictly pop acts in the late 90s early 2000s it opened the flood gates with nonsense. I mean ABBA is in there with Madonna and Jay Z. That doesn't need explanation on why this is wrong. If they did a rock period, sure, it's arguable.

I know the definition of rock is broad but at it's core: electric guitar, bass, drums and a notable singer is the minimum requirement. That immediately excludes rappers, pop singers but I guess leaves open the rest lol
 
She tried to decline, but they wouldn't let her. She said if they are going to induct her anyway, then the only way she can feel right about it is if she does a rock album. She's not doing a rock album to get inducted, she's doing it because they are going to induct her anyway, she still doesn't want to be.

Rick Wakeman‘s is also quite funny.

Many artists want nothing to do with it. To accept your prize, you need to pay out of your own pocket to be there. I forget the price, but it’s in the five digits per chair range. A huge hit for someone who hasn’t collected royalties in years, and is scraping to get by.

I have a lot of respect for Dolly, and would love to see what she does for a rock album. Her straight up bluegrass stuff is pretty amazing. And because she’s from the old school of country and bluegrass, her attitude is very much rock and roll. More so than the HoF.
