Do You or Don't You Like A Beard

No I don't like them, I have sported a beard twice in my lifetime, I can grow a good one and friends said they liked it. But honestly I just didn't like them, I felt dirty, and they made me look ten years older than what I am. So why would I want to do that. Clean shaven all the way for this guy.

I grew a full beard twice. 1976..... 200 year anniversary of the Deceleration of Independence. Participated in the July 4th celebrations. July 5th I shaved it off. The other time was I'd come back from vacation and the entire crew at the store I worked at had decided to grow beards. Figured what the heck. In a week-10 days I'd caught up. Kept it for another week or so and shaved it. Like you Norm, ended up hating it. Also like you. I grow great face hair.

Now mustache. Grew one of those back in the mid 70s. My then girl friend turned future bride talked me into it. My boys were born in 78 and 83. They'd never seen me without it. 2018 we did our 40th anniversary in Hawaii. We were going to go snorkeling.... which I'd done one time before and couldn't keep water out of my nose. So the day we were going out I shaved of the mustache. Didn't help,.... but after 40+ years I was sorta done with it and haven't grown it back. However, my boys reaction to seeing me without a mustache was priceless.

I grew one back in the 80s. Didn’t grow too well on the sides. Kept it for about a year.

Now, I know why you got rid of that beard Don...

Had mine from about '79 to '99. After that, it was completely grey, and made me look ten years older. Now, I just have scruff, as I still had shaving and only do it every week or two. The wife prefers a smooth face to kiss, so I usually shave when I know we'll have time off together.

My face hair was getting white/gray in it faster than on top of my head. That has since changed. But still not interested in growing face hair. Not even interested in starting any lip hair again. Got tired of the trimming.

Of course. Now I’m retired, I find I’m shaving about every third day…. Sometime 4. By that point I’m pretty fuzzy. And not a good fuzzy.

Shave?
Pffft.

Started the beard when I turned 30. Never, ever touched it with a scissors or a trimmer whatsoever, until about 6 months ago.

Now I keep it a bit shorter.

Also, the hair is gone too. Getting too thin up top to keep pretending.

I had a Mustache since high school. Then when I got out of the military I grew a goatee and had that until about 10 years ago when I grew a full beard. I don't keep it long, maybe about an inch or so. It's all gray and I'm sure makes me look older than I am, but I don't care. I do shave my cheeks and neck about once or twice a week, I just don't like to let it get out of hand.
