Dilemma - Which Would You Keep?

I have three hanging upstairs like that. I need to fix that issue before I end up with a dead guitar!

I'm going to get a nice piece of oak and mount it horizontally across the space of 3 or 4 studs and then mount the hangers to that. I can put the
hangers where ever I please doing it that way. I think 1x4 would do the trick, but I need to go to Lowes and look around. May need it thicker?

I used 1x3s for years across the studs with the hangers on that. Never an issue. I plan on doing some version of that in the studio.
