Did ever have a dream guitar you never clicked with?

IMG_4773.JPG IMG_6453.JPG IMG_7802.JPG I bought a EXP dark blue with gold hardware that it my G spot. I loved the looks and sounds but after about a week I knew I really messed up. Double cutaway a little heavy and I no it was bad luck on top of it feeling wrong. Four of us played a blues bar in a bad neighborhood.
The case of this guitar took most of the hits. They weren't shooting at us, the main guy shooting even came up to me to say he was sorry about the guitar case and gave me a hand full of bills to cover a new case. I trade that EXP turd in the next Monday.

My first PRS Custom 22 with a wide fat neck.
It was gorgeous, all blinged out with birds, 10 top and everything.
Never clicked with it, ended up trading it for another PRS with a wide thin neck.
To me, that made all the difference in the world.

2017 Gibson Les Paul 50's Tribute Goldtop. The neck was 'R7' style about .957" thick, which was great, but everything else was a problem.

I'm the opposite on necks. I can't play open chords well on thin, narrow necks...

Adrian would because it looks Peavey-ish.

The EXP was expensive. I traded it in for the perfect white Strat from Mexico. I bought it and traded it at the same place. I even know the guy that owns the shop. Looking back he has beat up on me on every thing I got from him. He did call me once a week or so to say he has the perfect guitar for me. If I like it I buy it from another place and thank him for the idea. Example my Martin D28 was on sale at his store just for me as he said. I sent him photos of the one I bought with the lower every day price. I but from Pittsburgh Guitars close to my house and the owner delivers it on his way home.

A had a Gibson Flying V for a while. I loved the tone and the feel of it. I found the body shape just too awkward. I kept hitting the cymbals and other guitarists on stage. The rear facing points stick out a long ways. It was also a pain finding a stand that worked. Eventually I found an A frame stand that worked sort of. The guitar was fairly stable in the stand but the points were touching the floor so they were getting marked up.

I understand all of what you say. My Firebird need a special stand and case and becomes awkward to play. I looked at a V and saw all the same problems.

Some beautiful guitars that did not live up to their expectations. I remember the EXP so very well but I know that in my stack of cases there are a few others. I try to stay on the path that is well travelled in the guitar world. Every company has some dogs, a few months ago Gibson came out with some cheap guitars. I like to look at videos that explain what is up. Gibson almost need to give those things away. Fender engineers are very good on paper but get past the ink and no one wants to talk much. Everyone here as had a fun shot at my photos of the Jazz Master I built. They are bad guitars. Really poor engineering from tip to stern. I am sure they were drunk. I went past the good stuff and bought great stuff. You never saw these things until the last year or so as the hot ticket. They never will be and if you are and kind of a guitar player you will be in the Telecaster line.

I'm a sucker for every stupid thing that comes down the pike. I never fell for one of those. They are the look into the future of Gibson. That will be the good stuff, wait until the new owners move it all to China.
