Dealing with Bull Shid Carpel Tunnel

I had the surgery.
Ring finger left hand was not bending at the first joint and
forcing it would lock it up in the bent position (PAIN!!!)
I put it off for 10 years as it slowly got worse and worse.
(If they screw this up I will be selling guitars.)
Saw a doctor when I could no longer play an open G chord.
(Nothing to lose at that point.)
He explained the mechanics of the operation to me.
I thanked him and said I would schedule it.
He said, "Want me to do it now? It will take about 5 minutes."
He shot a local anesthetic into my hand.
I didn't watch but felt a little bit of tugging but zero pain.
When he was done with the last of 5 stiches he looked at his watch.
It took 4 minutes and 35 seconds.
I had it done on Thursday.
I picked up a guitar on Friday.
I played a gig the following Tuesday, G chords and all.

I lucked into the right doctor I guess.

Wow! I had no idea it could be done like that!

Wow...my roommate has the same problem and needs surgery for both hands that have carpel tunnel syndrome. Recovering from surgery depends on the individual so it's really hard to say. Hope it works out for you my BUDDY!

Well if you can prove it's work related workman's comp covers it ....some insurers will claim it's "elective" surgery ......some pay 100% just depends on the company

Actually ESG,,,,, I would have significant trouble with that too. Having been self employed since 1989, I have no workman's comp.

Having been self employed and barely scratching past being in the red all those years also left me with almost no safety net in regards to avenues to fund my preservation on this planet other than getting up out of bed and going out to make what little I can until I take my last breath. Having done carpentry and remodel work since '87, I barely have enough to feed myself or have a roof over my head ( lost my one and only house I had a mortgage on) . Sadly, I chose a pretty sucky way to make a living in the economic times our country has been thru since Wall St and the Politicians jacked up our society. I think any building industry type ventures are barely less risky than going to Vegas or Atlantic City to come out on top after all is said and done with our $$ invested.

Thankfully, I do have a tremendous sweetheart, her home, my other meager but paid for home, and a still functioning brain which gives me the strength to plug away the best I can.
