That's what I always hate: the uncertainty of joining a new company. I don't typically move around a lot from company to company and try to stay situated. I guess the last bad one was when I was 18 and went from one bad job to an even worse one, but thankfully, ever since has been good companies, just eventually we part ways but always on good terms.

That's how the current company was. I put a 2 weeks notice in today and it was amicable. I was offered my job back at any time if something were to not go right. I always try to leave them with a good impression I guess

I am on this abomination just west of downtown Los Angles, I have been getting constant material shortage’s from the vendor, (that’s about to change)
And I have 2 more floors to go.
With limited parking, no place to store materials.

Cramped quarters to say the least,
and I will be dammed if I can get home in less than 3 hours a night.
And it’s only 70 miles one way from my house…

But ya got to do what keeps the food on the table, and the lights on.
 
And Just Like That: Close One Door, Open Another

So after nearly 8 years, I left today at noon and became a "free-agent" so to speak ( other company is making the call tomorrow for me).
I would like to say it was bittersweet but sadly, it wasn't.

Last night, I came home and got cleaned up, then drove the company truck I had to the boss's house. He wasn't home, so I left the key hidden and locked it. He texted me an hour later saying thanks for bringing it, but then decided to get one last jab at me about being "so lucky to not have to work far away, must be nice". Which is very untrue and downright petty of him

Regardless, I left them with on 2 weeks notice, finished the job I was on and began transferring over what was to be done next to the next guy who was replacing me. We shook hands, said our goodbyes but when I left, the company I was with was supposed to give me a termination letter so I could report that I had left them and was available to now join the next company. But as I began heading to our local hall to report, I didn't have the letter. So I called the other boss and he refused to talk to me. Called the boss I usually deal with and he was clearly aggravated and said " well I guess I'll just text you a picture of it" ( which is actually highly illegal in our agreements for someone who is terminated by either their own request or at the request of the company, to NOT have the termination letter).

There were no goodbyes from them, no thank yous, no best of lucks just....nothing. Despite that, I still said to them " Thank you for all you've done for me, I appreciate the opportunity to work here" to which they gave me no response. So, it wasn't a happy ending, but my conscience is clear and it only strengthened my theory that i indeed have made the right decision.

Now, onto the next chapter!
