Cream?

No not the band.

Maybe you guys can help me out on this one. You guys in the U.S. drink coffee with cream, we see that all tha time, but I am curious about what kind of cream it is. We don't have that habit here, we use milk.

Is is regular milk cream or does it have anything different? Do you buy the specific stuff for coffee or do you also make it at home?

If you got it, post a pic of it!

Not from the US, here in Aust when my wife has cream leftover from cooking I finish it off in coffee as I am doing at this very moment. This morning it's a quick instant drink, not brewed.

I tend to shy away from products "manufactured" for a purpose.
The down side of buying cream exclusively for coffee is the short shelf life, that's why I only use it when left over from wife's cooking.

Oh, and....half and half for me here. Ours is so pasteurized here that it is common to find it lasting for a month before spoiling.

BTW...I usually drink my coffee black since I'm too lazy sometimes to put in the cream and sugar. But if I order from a coffee shop I'll order double double. My friend sure loves his coffee that way with a splash of rum. What a way to kick-start the day.

What is often called ‘cream’ for coffee here is a generic term.

Often, what we may call ‘cream’ here is actually half-and-half. Other times it may be a light cream. I may use either one in my coffee.

The link below talks about the differences:

Difference Between Half & Half, Light Cream & Heavy Cream

However, although I don’t like them, there are myriad flavored “creamers”. Some of these contain real dairy, some do not. I don’t like them because they take too much away from the coffee flavor and to my taste they can lend kind of a sicky sweet flavor to the coffee.

That is a non-dairy product. Personally, I don’t care too much for it and don’t think it tastes like either light cream or half-and-half.

I much prefer real cream or half-and-half in my coffee, if I’m going to add anything. I don’t like sugar in my coffee at all. Usually, I prefer a robust, dark-roast coffee. An Italian or French roast are my favorites.

I will drink regular milk in tea, but I find it to be a bit on the weak side for coffee.

I prefer the more full-bodied flavor of cream or half-and-half in coffee.

We use the Wally World (walmart) Great Value brand French Vanilla a lot. The wife is going to read off the ingredients and I'm going to type them out:
Water
Sugar
Sunflower Oil
less than 2% natural and artificial flavors
Sodium Caseinate (a milk derivative)
Dipotassium
Phosphate
Polysorbate 60
Mono and Diglycerides
Color added
Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate
Carrageenan
Not a source of lactose

Hmm, where's the cream - lol...

So, half and half would be a mix of half milk half pure cream? Quite easy to make at home then.

I suppose you could try making it yourself. I never have, though.

It’s readily available in stores here. Just about every store that sells milk has half-and-half in the dairy section.
