CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) has issue new rules regarding select tonewoods, such as Rosewood and Bubinga. As a result, these tonewoods will become harder to import, and export and will likely increase in cost substantially. If you are considering any rosewood fretboard guitars or guitars with Bubinga finishes from Rondo, (or any other source), we suggest you make your selection quickly. There may be a significant shortage for at least the first half of 2017 as the permitting process typically takes 3 to 6 months and there is no guarantee all requests for permits will be granted. Namm, the musical instrument trade organization has additional information on their site.

Interesting ---- thanks for posting---

Might be time to make more maple fretboards? --- aluminum? --- graphite?
