Artec has been contract building pickups marked "Gibson USA" for some time now. All the double slug Gibson's are Artec, as are the ones used in low and medium cost Gibson's.

Only the high end units, like Wildwood, etc. receive a genuine USA made pickup.

O.k. --- I "get allthat" -- and I owned a Firebird Zero w/ double sluggs -- that (sounded decent enough) but didnt SAY MADE IN AMERICA on them ---

so ol Seymour Has sold out? --- gettin China made pups with his Stamp-- ??? so -- basically ANYONE that paid 80.00 for one of these through say SWEETWATER because they THOUGHT they were BUYING AMERICAN --- were in fact getting screwed (yet again) by an "AMERICAN" -- company
SHAME ON YOU SEYMOUR ---SHAME ON YOU !!!!

And -- HEY its not just American Companies----I was impressed with the first KIA I bought -- the KOREAN craftsmanship and durability was to me on par with the Japanese Nissans and Toyotas and ISUZUs I had years ago...........(and better than ANY DODGE Ive owned -- sorry its true) ....... so when I wanted another QUALITY built reliable fuel sipping (I can get 49 mpg on the highway in the Forte) --KIA ....I bought one -- only months later when reading the VIN off the car door did I realize it says HECHO EN MEXICO-- WHAT THE ****?!?!?!?!?!?!? ---- SON OF A BITCH !
guess them KOREAN factory workers losing THEIR jobs to Mexico?!?! --- the world is a complicated place folks ---

TBTH -- its a great car- -and in 3 years I have racked up 58,000 miles on it nothing but minor -- covered under warranty stuff -- and tires and brake pads.....

@eSGEe

I have a few sets of double slugs stamped "Gibson USA."

I also had a Tony Iommi and an Angus Young signature that had "Artec Korea" and "ROHS" stickers under the bobbins, that you couldn't see until the pickups were taken apart, but baseplates were stamped "Gibson USA."

I combined the two pickups into one for a client recently and both were brand new - in clear Gibson boxes - with a Guitar Center receipt.

It is no longer considered extraordinary, or even unethical, for a Corporation to lie about their products.

Hold on to your horses, boyz...! Some extra fake poop is being spread by y'all...

From Seymour Duncan's website:
"Our products are labeled Made in the USA or Designed and Assembled in Santa Barbara. Made in the USA designates that the products are designed in Santa Barbara, California and manufactured in the USA with quality parts sourced in the United States and around the world. Designed and Assembled in Santa Barbara designates that the products are designed in Santa Barbara, just like the Made in USA product, with some of the manufacturing outside the United States, and final assembly and testing at our Santa Barbara factory."

I see what is printed. However, validity of the statements may or may not be guaranteed.

I honestly have given up on product manufacturers these days. They operate on a doctrine of plausible deniability. They lie, they outsource, they use cost-cutting measures and make misleading claims and statements.

If you dig Seymour Duncan or Gibson or _______ pickups, then that's awesome, but you would be wise not to believe a motherfu**ing thing these bastards are preaching.

So -- just because I read it on their website dont mean its true ????
But its ON THE INTERNET IN BLACK WHITE........

and STAMPED on the back of the pickup--- MADE IN AMERICA..........wait--
I guess the Chines could NAME A FACTORY --or even a TOWN "America"and POOF -- its NOT A LIE anymore --- they just neglect the Made in America, ShangHai Province China ...part (not enough room on the engraver machine ;)

I think I stopped caring about this stuff decades ago. It's too late to deglobalize manufacturing. I've been fond of Diawa and Shimano fishing reels forever. I like St. Croix rods. Almost none of the parts that make up your Chevy, Ford, Dodge or Harley were manufactured in the USA. I prefer Italian bicycle parts. I like my cheese from Great Britain. Just rambling. Maybe I should get a beer.

I'm getting the impression that some of y'all are insinuating that the Seymour Duncan company is misleading us. Maybe the Chinese source of cheap SD pickups is pilfering some of SD's overseas sourced parts and having those parts assembled at their neighborhood sweat shop and making more profit than the Seymour Duncan company does by assembling and selling their own product.

The Seymour Duncan company is located in Santa Barbara, California. It's a 90 minute drive south along the coast from where I live. They have at least 100 employees working for them. That's at least 100 US jobs, making US wages, that contribute to the US economy. Seymour Duncan is a US manufacturing company.

I have no reason to not believe that the web page I posted of Seymour Duncan's details of where their parts and manufacturing comes from is accurate and truthful. In this day of invasive media, if they were scamming us, their doors would have been closed a long time ago.

If you like their products or not, they are an honest company doing their best to survive in a brutal world.

Rant over! Time for a beer, or two... or three!
