Chicago Music Exchange Exclusive SG Standards... 4 Colors

They look too much like ‘70s SGs for my tastes. Maybe pulling the inlays, and throwing some Custom style inlays in there would help improve the looks.

Funny, when these were released (beginning of last year I think) I came close to buying one because of the '70's vibe: inlays, t-top clones, available in walnut finish. What killed it for me though was the cream binding. Looks completely out of place on this model to me and I think they would have been perfect with white.

Those little block inlays freak me out. Don't like them on the 335 either. I much prefer the regular trapezoids or the Custom blocks. I have white binding on my SG. It does look better than cream on a black guitar.

I'm not a fan of their binding for the past twenty or thirty years, or so. It's too thick, especially on the fingerboard. It's at least 1/16" wide, where up until late '60s or mid '70s, it was at most about .04" (3/64") wide. The narrower binding looks much better. I'm sure there is some sort of production labor cost reduction in having the wider binding, and that's why they do it.
