More than anything, that was a nice ad for the Mesa Mark 5.

Beyond that, pretty much what I would have expected: you can drop all the cash in the World into a budget/beginner guitar and it will only be so good. Much better to have an entry-point instrument from Gibson than to try to magically make a cheap import into a (fill in the blank)-beater.

He's still definitely an Andertons guy. But he is also the head of what I believe is the biggest guitar company in Europe these days (of which Lee Anderson is also a major owner), so he needs to work closely with Thomann, which is the largest retailer in Europe.
