A progress pic, after some sanding I applied some wood conditioner and wiped on some stain. It's a bit fresh in this pic and it will lighten up. But a couple days from now humidity and temp considering I may start with the epoxy.
The dark looked kinda creepy in a good way to me. Reminded me of those trees in parts of Florida with the moss hanging off them. Either way its darn cool.
It’s all pretty much an experiment, I’ve done a few with no color added and one with color added. I was going for something to see how it would turn out. You don’t really know until it’s all done what is the end result. That last pic was pretty crappy, this is a bit better detail of what I’m hoping it all will look like. I was wanting to get the resin down in the burn leaving some exposed edges and black outline with the smaller florets still black. It’s hard to control all of that. I still need to do a light sand and the wood will again look different. But the pics don’t really capture how the copper color pops.
I went a few passes with some 150 grit just to see how it turned out. I don’t want to take too much off though as some of the details start disappearing real fast.
