ABOUT THE THOMAS FIRE:
The fires continue to rage across Southern California. In Santa Barbara County, where we are located, the out-of-control Thomas Fire had scorched 230,000 acres by Sunday evening, making it the fifth largest wildfire in modern California history. The blaze grew by more than 50,000 acres during the day, triggering new evacuation orders for about 5,000 county residents, including many of our employees. For updates on the Thomas Fire click here.

I drove through that area on Saturday. The 101 freeway had the fire on the right and ocean on the left. The only thing keeping the fire from traveling further west was the ocean. By the time we drove by, all the brush had burned and we could see the fire on the hill tops.

we rarely have wild fires here-----everything is too wet to burn most months out of the year......
