I can't really tell from the SG being covered in paper. I would not call it JUNK.
I would make it simple. BUY those plugs I posted the link on. for $3 what do you have to lose? Test the fit, Glue em in if it is good, and next time measure more carefully and redrill properly. You will never know the plugs are in there once you get the Tailpiece grommets installed and the TP installed.
 
Robert, what I would do to properly locate the holes is to get some green Frog Tape and tape over the are of the body between the neck and bridge and TP areas. Then project a straight edge alongside your neck and mark lines on the tape down the tape to the areas just past the dowels.

Then where your TP will be set at the right length you will be able to mark your crosshairs once you establish the center and measure back out 1/2 the total width of grommet spacing. Once you get the crosshairs marked on the tape, you can verify the total width is your spec, and that the holes will result in your TP being properly centered.

Maybe, at some point, i will revisit this project. I know what i did wrong.
