So--- I had a pair of redwing "IRISH SETTERS" for 13 years....re-soled 2 times.......finalythe leather just blew out -- never waxed/polished them ....... :(

So .......any recommendations on polish/wax/preservative?

Im guessing I take better care of this pair Im good for life ;)

Mink oil Adrian get the paste, i used it for years on my Red Wing work boots, will waterproof and soften the leather. I would rub on the paste make sure you do along the stitching as well, then i would take a hairdryer on medium heat and it just gets that oil right into the leather.

They recommend 3to 4 tmes a year. I did every 3 months which is 4 times a year. After you do the first time make sure they are dry then give another coat, then make sure they are totally dry before you start wearing them ....

The ones I had for all those years were made off shore....................guess I was lucky?

Wax on wax off, Mr Miagis recipe :)

Ill second Norm with the Mink Oil! It works wonders in breaking a new pair in and keeps the water out too like he mentioned. Saddle Soap works good too before you mink oil them, cause it both cleans and softens the leather too. Kiwi sells all of them at any Walmart i believe
