Was amazed by this video last night. Grandfather was part time cabinet maker & had a shop. Grew up with tools & woodworking since about 7ish. Always helping as a kid whenever i could. Can take a car apart & clearance everything on engine builds. Make car keys all day..this is right up my alley . Have most the tools already to re -fret. Actually grasp the heating of fret wire to release the fret & how to methodically hammer tap em back in place..also, i noticed , just get the new wire radiused a hair bigger for when it flattens out in place. Looks like something to do in winter when am not in garage

No re fret I've had it 40 years it was my main player 20+ years
I do have a 1960 Stratocaster neck that's on it's last level crown and polish
Is it stock pickups? Doing research for that era Strat. Hearing something in the early pickups i might like vs all this hot modern stuff i have.

My 1961 is 100% stock

The Ice Blue strat is a parts caster 1960 neck 1960 pickups and controls early Fender Custom Shop body hardware and case.
It sounds real I like Brazilian rosewood finger boards all the guitars except the headless Hydra have Brazilian finger boards.

Oh man, thats a great lineup

Frets are the only guitar maintenance area I haven't ventured into. Someday I will, but I haven't bought the tools for it yet.

That is what i was thinking. Surprised haven't' tried to build one yet. Would be cool to start with a slab & have at it one day

Just don't forget the fret puller tool, the fret tang nipper (edge), and that sander/polisher thing that you roll up and down the neck.

I tried it without proper tools my first time. Didn't go so great. Lol.

When pop pop passed i inherited all that excellent early manual tools. You don't think much about it until odd ball tasks come up. Dig through the bins & learn all about very specific tools. believe i have those tools, not in guitar specific form but 75-100 yr old versions,
I use that fret nip style tool since day 1 to clip the strings
