VamPYRE bats to be exact....slightly belated --- been busy---
got this here WARWICK VAMPYRE active beastie a week or so ago..... this is the German Engineered Chinese manufactured version not the multi thousand dollar German Made ones........but HEY ITS ME ....you KNEW that already
I can say --- for a 500.00 NEW (no I didnt buy it new or pay anywhere NEAR THAT) -- it would be "meh"
tRULY its made well.....no complaints--- solid and great comfy design (really) --- tuners are ROCK solid-- action is low--- all accounts a great bass......till we hit the MEC active pups........they frankly dont sound as good as the stock Humbuckers in the PEavey Grind (which for the same 500.00 new price range ---is a FAR superior neck through constructed mahogany wooden floor crusher of tone)
THe Warwick ---is good.....but just that ---- good --- not great.
--it has some nice features like an adjustable "zero nut" ---Warwick calls it the 'just a nut (adjust a nut) -- 24 frets...very nice maple neck great frets....it just lacks a certain richness of tone I am used to in the Peavey realm....
NOW I have a quandry --- I have a NICE set of DR Black Beauty strings.....do I use them on her????in the thoughts of letting this bat hang about a bit.......or save them for another victim ....and chuck this to the "For profit" short list pile????
It is rather "Klingon-ish" really
