Band Asked Me To Cover a Rhythm Guitarist:

That set list needs some Bengay and an afternoon nap.
I wasn’t thinking that exactly…. But I sure was thinking that’s a very unique play list. Might this be for a wedding? ‘Cause that’d sure make sense if it were.

Nice I like it, a little heavier than the original.

I was up this morning about 2:30, sitting on our padded, wicker bench on the front porch, listening to the birds singing, just chillin with a cup of coffee and my Les Paul (unplugged) and I thought to myself, what a great life I am blessed with.

I've been blessed to be able to make a good living playing the guitar for the past 7 years. I've never had to perform for free, and while I have the utmost respect for those who do this just for fun, I'd be lost without that income. We would have never been able to do what we've done the past 7 years together without what I e been able to make with a guitar in my hands.

Today, I'm taking a day off to work on a recording session for hire. Sitting here on the balcony, looking out over Hollywood, I'm humbled and blessed to work with some of these people. To be the only one in a room who neither reads music, nor has a Grammy nomination...really gives me an overwhelming feeling of gratefulness.

Happy Friday to all of you in MusicLandia...

I totally respect your skill and talent, Robert, and I am not trying to make light of it at all, but I am totally on the other end of the spectrum here.

I have to pay people so they will let me play for them and even then, they want to grab the guitar out of my hands!

We are all walking along different paths, but we all have an equally important journey.

If it wasn't for this opportunity, I honestly don't know what I would have done.

So we played this event yesterday and it was really neat. Imagine a kind of folk-rock event, in a 7,000 ft/asl mountain community, suddenly blasted open by the 3 guitar harmony of "Sign Of The Gypsy Queen."

We were the only group to get people up and dancing. One of the promoters came up and told us when we started playing, it was like someone hooked up jumper cables to the event.

We each had one guitar and amp.

No back-ups.

No spare tubes. (Bandleader used a DSL40C I've serviced)

No spare strings.

Only one pick (Dunlop Flow 1.5)

We played from 5pm to 8pm and the after-party at the bandleader's mountain cabin ran into the wee hours.

What an awesome bunch of guys. Our bass player postponed chemo to play with us and he was struggling during the last few songs, but he's a tough nut indeed!!!

We are hoping and praying he makes it through this ordeal.

Wishing you all peace and prosperity.
