I think Jethro and Sesh would agree with me in formally requesting forum admin also make the following improvement
to TTR for the next few days:

Please change all these leaf graphics bright red. Your Canadian brothers would enjoy it greatly, while you guys all
booze it up on a holiday we already celebrated weeks ago. Also, these goofy hats on all the avatars? Skidoo Toques please.

Thank you, eh?

I've only know a couple of people to actually partake in the festivities here since I joined a couple years ago, yet I see between 450,000 and 250,000,000 new joiners per hour here. This clearly evaluates to spam in the 'Recent' list. It would probably be better to PM these possible robots then they can give their greeting in the newcomers introduction thread, if there is one.

You have a corvette forum?
Yep, we started it in 2001. We have about 30 active members, most of them from the beginning. Great group of folks. We do a Zoom call every Friday at 2 PST and usually have 9 to 12 folks on for an hour or two. The guy who originally organized it and ran it passed away around 2008. I have since taken over and own/run the site.

I set it up that after you register, the site sends you an email with a link to confirm. If you don’t respond you can’t view or post.

I have this forum set up so a new user can only post in the introduction section and the post must be approved before being allowed to post anywhere else. I realize many people may end up here from a search result and then must register to view the images. Once viewed they may never come back. As long as they have made at the least, an introduction post their account will not be auto-deleted.

I've turned all that stuff off, I don't even know what you're talking about.

OK, I've reassessed this and have made the following adjustments.

In an attempt to protect this forum from spammers, ALL accounts that do not have at least 1 posts within 1 year of creating an account, will be automatically deleted on the 1 year anniversary from when the account was created. Any account that does have at least 5 posts will not be deleted.

What about the automatic welcome posts? I don't welcome new members anymore unless I see them post first because I feel like a fool, like I've been had, when they never respond and join in. It seems like it would be better to just have the Introduction Section for new members to make their 1st post and then we can say welcome aboard after we know it's actually a person because they made an effort to say hello first. What I've seen is most of the new member welcome threads are going unanswered by the new member and they don't post anywhere else either. If a new member doesn't post right away, or within a few days, I tend to think it isn't real..

I try to welcome new members when I can. But there are times when a flurry of new accounts are made and I don’t bother because I feel like that is just a bot spam.

I happen to like the intro assimilation post. It made me feel welcome when I first joined.
But then again, I posted a ton right out of the gate. I have a big mouth and never shut up apparently

I quit responding to the new member intros….. until they have actually posted something….

I believe there are plenty of spambots that sign up…but there are also plenty of people that land here on quests for knowledge. Either they want to see a pic posted, or they’re looking for some tech info for a project/repair. When they’re freshly signed up, seeing their recent activity is pretty easy…often they’re viewing threads like an amp repair, or guitar finishing/building/wiring/pickups…they hang out for ten, twenty, minutes and move on.
The spambots are mostly the “one minute wonders” that are often seen. As far as the greeting threads go, I like them. It points out the new sign on characters, and if I click on the name link…I can usually see if they’re behaving like a human.
