It looks beautiful - I dig the neck through. The absence of a tone control is bad ass. I live SS frets, but as Biddlin says, your string life will decrease.

High tech carbon fiber truss rod is intersting.

I do not own a Schecter, but they seem to be quality instruments. Can you deal with an ultra thin neck?

The neck, actually everything about the left hand felt good.
Going to read up on them tonight and tomorrow planing on taking a trade in back to shop and test it out again.
The two things I have to mentally overcome is, lack of tone knob and the Schecter heavy metal image.

Love the wood, the finish.... But like you, the "shredder" image puts me off a little. Not that it would be a complete deal breaker, but it would take me a while to get used to it.
I had the same feelings when I first saw the Aria Pro bass I bought. As Col. Mustard puts it, with all the stickers on it looked "punk". I saw beyond the stickers and bought it. My point is that if you can see beyond the "heavy metal" look, maybe you should give it a go...
Alternatively, have you seen this: http://www.schecterguitars.com/international/guitars/banshee-6-extreme-black-cherry-burst-detail
I quite like it... Kind of like an aggressive strat, but not quite the typical "metal" super strat.

The link looks nice but the KM-6 in post #1 has a lot extra ...
locking tuners
ebony fretboard
compound radius
neck throu
stainless frets
Duncan pickups
Korea not Indonesia
etc etc ... plus the big one you couldn't live without, "glow in the dark" dot markers. LOL

Good link on this guitar ...

Interesting. The only guitar I have ever attempted to sell is because I cannot get beyond the shredder image. This is true despite the fact that I personally reworked the guitar and it is quite suitable for rock and blues. I say attempted to sell because most people have not heard of a Lag shredder, so it has not sold!

Forum member @Robert Herndon has a Schecter and thinks highly of it. Maybe, he'll comment on this thread.

For me, the lack of a tone knob would be an issue. I'd also want a Floyd Rose, or some good vibrato system. But, that's just me.

The heavy metal image wouldn't bother me...then again...I have a Jackson, so I'm probably not the one to ask!

The thing about "shredder" guitars is that they are designed for playability. A great deal of attention goes into the neck. The neck width, the neck profile, the compound radius fretboards, where and how the neck meets the body...all of this has been developed over time to maximize the playability of the instruments. Even my little Jackson Dinky with a bolt-on neck is very playable and has a fast neck. Now, extrapolate that playability to whatever your preferred style is. It can only help. They do not have to be used for metal. I often use my Jackson for very clean, quiet playing. Forum member, David Brown (David KOS) uses a Jackson for jazz gigs.

Schecters have a pretty good reputation. I do like their overall design.

LAG shredder, had to look them up even though I've owned 2 LAG acoustics.
So you have the ...
Jet
Arkane
Roxane
or the Imperator?
And there you have my attempt at being a smart a$s. LOL

Yep, most of the vids viewed so far are metal people but the link I put at the end of post #5 impressed me.
I played a major scale the length of the neck and it sounded sweet and clean.

That's the counter-intuitive thing about metal guitars. A good heavy metal guitar actually needs to be very clear and clean. Sure, it needs to have hot pickups, but they need to be clear. Since the amp is providing such a massive amount of distortion and gain, the signal going into the amp needs to have clarity and good note definition. A messy-sounding pickup going into a high-gain setup would be very...well...messy.

She is a very nice lady who lives in Aus and puts up with a right wanker of an old man........oh---wait that wasnt supposed to be said out loud......

SOunds great (what a plus)
AND it has glow in the dark fret markers----- I mean really that had me right there------

FOr Nocturnal Noodling.......perfect.......see.......
Excuse #72---but Honey this one glows in the dark!!!

Looks beautiful and well built, but thin neck would kill the deal for me. I also find it a little sterile sounding in the video.
But that's me.

I agree with the good Dr. B that it was a bit sterile sounding, however, I did think there was some nice under tones there too.
The guy playing was doing a fairly good job of it, but TBH I think the gain on the amp was up too high, and to me at least, it sounded like it was on a few occasions on the verge of breaking up, which ruined an otherwise pleasant aural experience.
I think the addition of a tone control on the guitar would probably be of more benefit to it. I really don't know why they would leave it off...
However, I think with a really clean sounding amp, it could sound phenomenal.
I'm no expert, but that is the way I'd call it...

We just played as it was. After I turned the amp off and unplugged I noticed all knobs were on 5 from 10. It sounded cleaner than the vid.
