American Vs Chinese Strat

Like I always say you get what you pay for. To me though I would be surprized if guitarists really believed that $130 Chinese made Squire guitar would be as good as a $1200 U.S made Fender. To me this is only common sense.

1987 Korean Made Squire...decent guitar, and it was purchased for me by bandmates when I was down on my luck, so I've kept it all these years, but I would always prefer a USA made variant if I had the choice...

Shown here in 1996:

And here it appears in 2019 with hand-wired harness, Gibson 500T/496R pickups and genuine Fender aluminum pickguard:

here is another OPTION -- not mentioned in the Video---
you can scour pawn shops and craigslist ---
and you can SCORE AMERICAN MADE -- (almost vintage---) 90's and 80's and 70's era PEAVEY gear for not MUCH mopre than the low end Squires---
less than the TOP end squires and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less than any American Fender......

Case in point
these:
predator strat.jpg
Predator AX and Reactor AX -- usa made -- QUALITY guitars-- all original built in the Land OF Cotton -- Meridian Ms.
combined -- BOTH -- cost me (but Im "special") less than this

Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster Custom - 3-tone Sunburst

Good scores there....

I’ve played an oriental built Squire. A Japanese built Strat. An American Strat. All three played and sounded fine. Hands down. The quality of the American made was better. For My skill level do I need a 1300 American made or will a couple hundred dollar Squire be okay?

Guess my answer to that is my Chinese made G400. I like it. Plays nice. Sounds fine. It’s good enough for what I do.

Very nice Squire you have there Rob!! Koreans make good quality goods. Also a guitar to keep, seeing the sentimental value to you. It will always be a great reminder to you the thoughtfulness of those guy's!(y)

I’ve been pleased with the quality on the Korean PRS SE line. I bought 4 as modding platforms. Elumi was the first mod late last year (Ebony theme and Alumitone pups).

Ah yes. Modding a guitar makes me feel somewhat better. I can get rid of many of those diffetences; replace tuners, pickups, bridges, electronics. I still won't have an American, but it's a little bit closer in quality.

After handling and owning well over a dozen Strats I don't need a video to tell me which ones are better.

Can you get a decent make Chinese or Indonesian or Mexican made Strat? Yes. Are they as well made with
the same quality electronics as an American made? No. But, they can be made into fantastic playing guitars
with a little effort and a small outlay of cash for upgrades...

Almost NONE of my guitars have the original "Guts"...
