Of course it could, but who knows. I'm sure the 11 year-olds that screwed it together for slave wages didn't apprentice at the Fender Custom Shop, but It may function fine as a beginner electric guitar. But ethically? No thanks. You have to always consider why some things are "too" cheap.
 
Yes because the purchase of other products ....cell phones,shoes,kitchen utensils,bannans,bamboo,ceramics,cocoa,coffee,cotton,gold,jems, olives and millions of other products also produced or harvested by slave and or forced labor are o.k.
But we draw the line at a cheap guitar?
The reality is many of the products items and even Foods in our homes and that we purchase daily or weekly or annually were produced in a not so savory environment
How does one separate all of it?
I'm not purchasing the guitar I just opened it for debate and you make a good point G ball however we can't totally not buy things that are created in the fashion you mentioned because a lot of the time we don't know that it is I did a little research I wouldn't have guessed bananas gold many other items thousands of items are produced by child labor slave labor and forced labor
I agree we should not condone it if we know in fact a product is created through slave labor
 
Correct in everything you say, except that no I did not say/imply that other products are "OK" but that when something is so blatantly and transparently being sold below market value you do have to immediately ask yourself why. And I try to be as careful about the sourcing of products as I reasonably can be, with the knowledge that the corporate monopolies (yes, we are back there again at this time in history) are actively trying to keep that information from consumers. Luckily we have better means at our disposal to do research now than in the past, and we can all decided for ourselves where our comfort level lies.

That's the real kicker, you can't build a guitar for $75.99
Even with rats nest flea market parts.
And these things will be new and shiny shipped for free.
Sure they're crap, most sub $100 guitars are. But in a pinch it's way better than NO guitar

I agree with you, but when you build it yourself, there is a level of quality that is otherwise unattainable.

I "built" a Strat once. Actually, what I did was assemble it from parts, but you know what I mean. Got a nice USA Standard neck in a trade, so bought a Mighty-Mite body for real cheap and slapped it together with parts that I had in my bin. I think the only thing I had to actually go out and purchase was the bridge and neck plate/screws as I had everything else. It was a lot of fun to do it and wouldn't mind trying again. Does your friend do a variety of neck shapes?
