Was there a problem with the loop on the 2203x?

I thought i was having some issues with my 2203x so i quit using it.
At the time of this problem i had a tube screamer up front and a boss 7 band in loop. I was getting volume drops then decided to hang it up.
Recently i decided to give it a run but moved the boss 7 band to the front with the tube screamer and have yet to see any problems.
Whats up with the lool?

The loop on Marshall amplifiers (often) does not match regular effects pedals.
Marshall has never been especially keen on designing effects loops.

Was there a desing flaw in the loop?

Ive had great results with the use of the loop on my 4100. This made me think i had some problem with the 800. Sweetwater tech kept saying to roll pre amp tubes which i did with no results. They didn't want me to send it in so i put it up.
