My daughter made a surprise visit in January. I was really happy to see her and the kids until she dropped the bomb that she was getting divorced! Her marriage looked like the ultimate perfect family and no one saw this coming...

...then two weeks ago my Grand Father passed away unexpectedly. I mean he was old and all, but had been perfectly healthy. Felt bad on Saturday, in the hospital Sunday and gone by Thursday.

I guess the older I get the more I have to expect this $hit...

Did I mention the daughter and two grandkids are coming to live us while she sorts things out?
 
I reckon you could see that last part as a bonus. Really sorry about your grandfather, but when it is my time I'd like it to be even quicker than that.
 
Sorry for your loss Chris I agree 2019 has flat out sucked. Huge tax debts job issues and. ....
On the kid side PM me for pointers ...at present our 27 year old son.. 30 year old daughter 42 year old son in law and 3 kids 8...5...1 are ALLLLLL living here ....... yes smiles smiles everyone it's the hit show millennials cant function fantasy island!!! :)

Wow, Man....sorry to hear about your Grandfather....
 
Seems like the older we get the worse the news. I would say hang in there it will get better but sadly there's no proof of that. Sorry for your news.
 
Sorry for your family's recent misfortune.
it is good to have your daughter and grand kids close by through this huge transition in their lives.

I hope things get better for you, mate. But, as DonP said, with the two grandkids coming to stay maybe things are picking up already.
 
I'm not too down. It's just been a bad 6 or 8 months. The grand kids should brighten things up!

I went home to Ohio for the 4th of July and had a great time. We bought my grandma's (maternal) farm and I saw a lot of family.

No sooner did I get back to SoCal and found out my Dad had throat cancer (which I hope he beat!). Right after that my little brothers Dad died
unexpectedly from lung cancer. Them my Mom had to have her dog put down and to top it off my Grandfather (paternal) passed last month!

So...on the bright side I got to see those people (and dog) one last time in July, but I never thought for a moment it would be the LAST time!

The thing with my daughter was a shock, but I can't live her life. I think she's making a mistake, but I'll take care of her and the kids and help
her transition to single parent life the best I can. A strong family bond is one thing I do have!

this is what matters--

and why we have them all here--- is it "ideal" -- no but if they were still in Hew Hampshire I couldnt chase them around the yard with the law mower screaming I AM GONNA GET YOU!!!!!!!

and they scream and run---- its a blast :) then we go to Dairy Queen :)
the Grandkids are the best part of the equation ;)

My Great Grandparents raised me and my sister more than half our lives. If it weren't for them I'm sure I'd be dead or lost somewhere by now.
They were always that rock solid place you knew would be there anytime you needed anything. I try and be that person to my family as well.

They sure don't make people the way they used to...
 
Agreed, and good on ya! As it should be

and to be fair-- I TURN THE BLADES OFF --when chasing them :) BUT hey these video game junkies MUST GET EXERCISE some way!!!!
