I'll be examining it with a colleague of mine who has authenticated some 6 figure Les Paul purchases.

I'm also looking for the missing pickup.

Looks similar to my Mom's Epiphone. Here she is before a performance at San Antonio's Keyhole Club in 1957:

Correct...but since one was put there and the holes and wiring are there....ya dig???

I'd max the value at about $1500 with the modifications. Very cool guitar, and since it was modified why not put it back to electric? Looks like they may have modified a Johnny-Smith style pickup for it.

You know, I was trying to figure out what they called those pickups!!!

That molded .1uf capacitor is from the 1960'S My guess is it had a DeArmond pickup DeArmond numbered products


I just missed out on a Gibson Johnny Smith 1963 double pickup all gold hardware mint My friend Betsy gave it to her brother

You could get this but will have to cut the pick guard to fit. Johnny Smith Pickguard Mount

Plug the holes and a new pick guard is the way I would go.

and modern crapola ---

This is just one of many old vintage pieces that pass through my little workshop...but I dont share photos unless the client approves in advance.

I have closely examined the build tag and it appears to be a legitimate Blackstone with a '559**' serial number.
