Thinking I may try one of these in place of my .017" G string...I think it might have a little richer tone on leads....

Thoughts????

The handful of times I've encountered a wound G it felt weird. I don't even like them on my acoustic but maybe you would like it, doesn't hurt to try. Does seem it would increase finger noise.

I strung Marty Stuart's Von Herndon guitar with a wound 'G' and liked it. I will admit, it's tougher to bend than I anticipated...but it sounds great...so I probably won't keep it on my Double Neck, but for 89 cents, it's a great experiment...

It is great for rhythm tone! I recall hanging out down at Buck Owens Studio in Bakersfield and watching the recording process. It was only about 45 minutes from The Ranch.

I remember watching them put huge strings on a Broadcaster, record a rhythm part, then immediately re-string with a lighter gauge for lead work.
