This is fun to do since there is only one tube to swap! Anyway, this amp came with a JJ EC83-S. It was too dark for me. I tried the following, in order of preference: Mullard 12AX7 - good but not all that much different. I bit mellower with lower output. The gain suffers Sovtek 12AX7 - bright...
