So, I was considering a fret level on a PRS with a 10" radius. However, my closest radius beam (or block) is 9.5". I also have a straight 18" beam which covers approx. 1/3 of the FB per pass.
So would you use the straight mean, the 9.5" radius beam or go and get yourself a 10" radius beam...
Why would a fret level with a radius block result in the treble side losing much more fret material than the bass side?
It occurred more on the first 5 frets and then trailed off, becoming rather even again after the 12th fret. I checked the radius with gauges and used a trusted radius block...
After my last fret job, I find my hands hurting, mostly my thumbs. I already have 2 more jobs planned and hope to be doing fret work for years to come. My current crowning files work, but require just that...lots of work.
I was thinking that it may be time for a good set of diamond crowning...
