Thanks. I'm liking it a lot, although the string spacing seems quite a bit wider than on my electric so I keep missing with my pick. It's nothing that some practice won't fix, though. I might also put some lighter gauge (.010-.047) strings on it
So this is a Korean made Ovation shallow bowl acoustic electric whuch I bought at an auction. It doesn't seam to have much in the way of electronics. There is just a volume and tone pot. I'm happy with the way it sounds acoustically. I havent plugged it in yet. It came with a hard case which...
So this Celebrity by Ovation ac/el is up for auction at a local auction house. The GF said if I can get it for a decent price (read cheap) she will give it to me for my b-day in a month. There are other pics on the site and it looks to be clean and in good condition. The hard case is included...
I thought it was good. But then, I like her voice. If you have never heard the version of Edge of Glory that she did live on the Howard Stern Show a few years ago - just her and a piano - you should find it and listen. Really really good.
Its all good, Wav. I just looked at that slightly undersized hunk of 'hog and saw a V type body staring back at me. I had no choice in the matter. Kind of like Michelangelo and his blocks of marble.
Just a note to say that I haven't disappeared but life (work) has interfered. I am currently on trial in back to back (and possibly another "back") cases so luthiery is on hold. I am staying out of town even at the moment so I am not even near my shop. I promise to get back to this and finish...
But keep in mind that I still believe in tone wood, which is out of character for me. I guess I just want to believe it. Who knew I had something in common with creationists and climate deniers?
Hardness, clarity and feel all seem superior to me. But that's mostly subjective. I'm not saying it's necessarily objectively better, but I don't think ending the tone wood debate ends the nitro debate necessarily.
