My curiosity with the late 50s Fender Tweed Deluxe began at the beginning of this year. Definitely the source of some classically recorded rock n roll tones from the amp's inception till practically today. Doing business with a few vendors, allowed me to whip up this...:

Cab Shield and New Rear Faceplate (3).JPG

Felt the need for a shield for the open chassis side:

Sylvania 5Y3 for the rectifier. A pair of RCA 6V6GT's. V2 is a Sovtek 12AX7LPS (Long-plate). V1 is a GE 12AY7 (JG).
PI Grid Switch Removed_470k Direct (2).JPG

I first started with stock values, but I ended up altering the preamp's bypass caps and the main filter cap's values to focus the low end a bit more. With a 1x12 cab, hosting a Celestion Ruby Alnico, is what tone dreams are made of... Killer results...

Finished head cab is from Guitars Cabinet Direct. Cocoa Brown Bronco/Levant for the tolex.
Chassis, and front and rear custom faceplates, are by Modulus Amplification.
The set of trannies are from Tube Audio Supply, which are made by Heyboer.
Custon eyelet circuit board, plus a few small parts, are from Hoffman Amps.
Other small parts are from Antique Electronics Supply and Tube Depot.

That is beautiful. Well done, congrats.
I have parts to build a “Not 100% sure Yet amp”
Also rectified, I really have my eye on the “SLO Naked” on Rob’s sight as a possible build.
I have iron already.

Absolutely beautiful, as usual, sir!

Most Awe'sta'mys'ticle...

And now...

That’s a beauty. I became mildly obsessed with that circuit a few years ago and had so much fun building and rebuilding variations of it. That one is too pretty to mess with though lol

Curious if you you have tried other 6V6s and how they sounded?
Not yet, but now that you mentioned it, I think I’ll try a pair of modern Tungsols that I have in my stash. Because a stock circuit 5E3 does not have screen resistors applied, I went with a pair of NOS RCA’s mainly for their reputation of being a much more robust 6V6 tube compared to the modern offerings. If I decide I’m enjoying the Tungsols even more than the RCA’s, I’ll be adding a pair of screen resistors.

I would love to change out the chassis on my 5E3 build (WIP) for that one. :) Lots of room. Mine is the traditional narrow tweed chassis. Hard to work in it.

Lovely cabinet. Flawless execution.

I feel your pain.... I was relieved when I found out that Modulus Amplification makes an alternate style chassis for the 5E3 circuit that has extra room for the layout of the components, plus a different profile that will fit a more standard type of head cab. Another option would have been to get a blank chassis at a certain size and drill my own holes.
