Guitar of the Day: a 2007 Ibanez ARX500. This is an interesting piece to me, they only made it for 2 years 06-07. It has a similar double cutaway like the original Artist series from the 70s and the “cloud” tailpiece. The top is a gorgeous quilted maple in amber finish. The neat thing to me is that most of the guitar is wood meaning even parts that are normally plastic are wood.
The binding around edges is maple instead of plastic, the truss rod cover is wood, even the knobs and back control cavity cover are wood! Made in China to keep it’s cost down, this is made with excellent workmanship, a very good guitar. Nice sculpting on the neck joint to make easy high fret access. I did change the bridge pickup out, I felt it was a bit anemic. Yes, the fingerboard needs a good cleaning when I change strings. This is the office guitar that I do ideas with. I gigged him lots when I first got it used.
