My son's drum kit

People like to complain about how crappy the music their kids listen to is. I can't. My youngest son (16) started playing the drums a couple of years ago, and his tastes are developing really nicely. He started out on a really cheap electric set, graduated to a slightly better Roland electric set, and got his first acoustic set about half a year ago. I like the fact that the setup is reminiscent of John Bonham's: one rack and two floor toms. It's a PDP CX Series Arctic Blue Oyster set, with Paiste cymbals. Sounds really good. I never thought I'd love having a kid playing drums inside my house, but hes getting pretty good, so it's actually really cool! None of the neighbors have complained so far either... His big heri is Nick Mc Brain of Iron Maiden. I took him to see Maiden here in Bergen this summer. He absolutely loved it, as did I! Deep Purple will be in town this summer, and he's really looking forward to seeing Ian Price in action. AC/DC. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath w/Ozzy are among his other biggest favorites, so I'm really a happy camper.

I really dig the color of his set!

Fantastic, some of my fav music making is when my daughters jam with me !! Also all 6 grand kids soon as they come over, the drums are a magnet & nothing beats watching them develop timing. Very interesting to watch when they are only 5 even.

a couple of days ago he suggested we jam a bit. Haven´t gotten around to it yet, but I´m thinking of putting up a few mikes and do a bit of recording with him. I´ve heard him play with a band in school a couple of times, and he's a really disciplined and steady drummer in a band setting, so I think we could actually do some cool stuff.

OMG, I had 0 Idea that you had daughters let alone grandkids.

ALSO, Gahr, That is so cool about your son playing drums. When I sat at my first kit in 2000 and had fun playing it, I went to the store that night and decided to buy one for myself. Within a short time, my confidence grew in learning music again, so I bought my 2nd guitar from a friend who saved me a good Strat at the pawn shop he worked for.

Now I am here in TTR with several kits and numerous guitars and basses.
Nicko and Ian Paice are some of my favorite drummers too.
