Marshall 5010 conversion

I converted this nonworking Marshall from a solid-state amp into a tube amp.


Pulled out the solid-state components.




Drilled chassis and installed tube sockets, jacks, and impedance switch.


Mounted Heyboer transformers and Hammond choke.


Installed my latest PCBs (Left: power supply; right: Caldera FX).

Swapped out the stock speaker with a Vintage 30. This amp sounds incredible!

Yes, the stock line out jack was repurposed as a foot switchable solo boost. The pot varies the amount of boost. The circuit was borrowed from the Egnater seminar amp.

A guitarist from Montreal was in town over the winter break; he owns several high-end amps including a RedPlate Magica. He liked the clean tones from this modded Marshall better than those from his RedPlate and other Marshall amps....

Mine is about 20W, maybe a bit more with the 5881s in there.

Im just blown away by the level of electronics know how on here.The amps and wiring chassis by hand. There works of art. Awesome work folks
