That's fun, to be remembered... The Epi was my vote in the great 2015 Gibson bash-off. There was so much
anti-Gibson words and feeling in 2015 on ETSG, I just didn't want to listen to any more. 2015 Gibsons were
badly received (understatement) and Gibson had raised the prices. I never went to look at what they were saying
on MLP. I could guess. Buying an Epiphone Casino seemed a better and better alternative.

I thought most of the hoopla-oink was unjustified, but it's easy to understand peoples' feelings
even if they didn't color code it... *laughs 2015 Gibsons took a lot of flak because of the robot tuners
and the wider neck and the newly designed nut which was made out of soft metal. The zero fret was
a good idea, but the soft metal was NOT. Gibson should have offered all that innovation as options

and set up a computerized ordering system so players could get what they wanted. Hind sight, eh?

But I'd always liked the Casino because of how the Beatles played theirs. And I didn't own a P-90 guitar.
So the G.A.S. was percolating. The original Gibson ES-339 was equipped with '57 classic pickups
which I thought was fascinating. Also the price of the 339 was less than $2500 (which was a LOT LESS
than what they asked for a 335). This was still too rich for my level of finance, but fascinating anyway.
So I looked at my catalogs and drooled on my keyboard.

When Epiphone announced the "Casino Coupe" I was immediately attracted. I thought, "what a great idea!"
Then they announced the ES-339 P90 pro, and I felt the gas bubble over. I compared the Epi with the Gibbie
and figured Gibson wanted eight times more money for the same thing with their name on it. The Gibson
ES-339 and the Epi are both plywood guitars with a maple center block. I liked the arithmetic on the Epiphone.

I don't know if my ES-339 sounds as good as the real thing Casino like the OP has.
The Casino is a genuine hollow body instrument after all. I only know I love my ES-339
and it's eight years later and it's still one of my fave guitars.

The neck P-90 has a woody jazzy tone that's quite remarkable (to a humbucker guy
like me) and the bridge P-90 is pure rock an roll. I play it mostly in middle position
to mix both of those tones, and it's got a vicious snarl as well as a melodic jangle.
Sure and the Casino can do all that... just listen to some ol' Beatles tunes.

Report after being under the mic quite a bit

It is really hard to want to use a solidbody for strumming anymore, The natural tone is simply more guitar like.

BUT listen to last 3 songs i did, The Casino got the first guitar track on each one, I now consider it the foundational tone to build upon. My songs arnt exactly light & it works, Was not expecting it to fill the role it does.

In the amps it stands out as the best option every time its rythym time. basically could use as an only guitar,

The p90's in this are the best i ever heard. They go dirty they go clean & the absolutely find the edge of any tone break you are searching. Me being amps tone shape as main sound. the Casino is a surgical tool but also is the nastiest one when called upon.

Maybe what it is or does, maybe its a tad of give in the strum hit that makes chords flow vs sometimes my solids throw the chord back in my face to quick & the fullness isnt there vs a mini bloom to fill out nicely

I had a real nice 1953 Epiphone one of the best necks on a electric guitar my Hungarian friend Betsy loved it so I gifted it to her
a photo of her playing my 335 she just moved out of the state and gave me back a P bass the best bass I own sound wise.
