Around a decade ago, I did some major overhauling of a Lotus guitar named Dirty Girl as she was a hopelessly unloved and abused yard sale acquisition in Florida that found her way to the west coast in an exchange with another member . When I was finished with "Dirty Girl" she looked like this...

I have since gifted Dirty Girl to my wife's cousin pictured below...

He does look pleased! I have an old Lotus too, a singlecut LP special. Oddest duck guitar... thin plywood body married to the fattest neck I've ever held. Almost more mass in the neck than the body. Goofy thing, but I love the weird and wacky

When I first received Dirty Girl, she was covered with the original black paint including several chips and buckle rash. After stripping her down to bare wood I could see the black mold looking stuff on the top horm. I also could see where the 4 planks glued together to make the body. I over emphasized the connections to make it look more like a wooden ship style. Pick guard was handmade and all hardware is brass.
