Very cool. Are the aluminum Strats solid, or are the welded skins over a frame? It looks like I see some welding poking out of the second photo.

Wicked cool. Didn’t know that they had done that. When I worked for Mazak, one of the applications engineers made some solid aluminum Strat bodies for IMTS on a five axis mill. Don’t know what ever became of the bodies. They were probably given to customers. They must have been heavy as hell made from solid 6061-T6.

Ya, those would be if solid 6061, I've seen some milled from solid billet. But they were machined out hollow from the back with a cover plate bolted on. These are extremely light, maybe 3lbs, Fender did several engraved themes of the aluminum bodies. HD, Aloha, Ford Mustang, and a run of just plain polished aluminum.
