Incoming Drivers…New Speakers Day!

…..alright then….no guesses as to the model I went with?….well they arrived in a timely fashion, were well packed, and damage free…
I decided to go with a quartet of the BV30H model for the 73 Kustom 4X12 tuck and roll cab. I chose these for the sound in the demo, and the 30 watt power handling. The head that goes with this cab peaks out in that 120 watt zone(“peak power”, not constant). I also chose 16 Ω drivers, wired for 16 Ω total cab load in order to keep in that safe zone with the matching head, and to be able to run it stacked with my Marshall 1960B cab with any of my amp heads.
Anyway, I found this cab to be pretty solidly built, and I’m glad I decided to give this cab a new voice. The (maybe) original speakers had the surrounds dry rot away over their long life, and (short of a recone) are pretty well done.
Here we go:

Yep….8 locknuts and washers holding each speaker in place…a bit of a PITA, but a solid mounting scheme.

All in place.
Testing time!!!

The little homebrew Superlite-ish head sounds pretty darned good through these un-broken in speakers!
Gotta catch up on some hockey….but I’m going to be doing some work in the studio over the next few days…I’ll see if I can break them in a bit;) :dood:

Love those old Custom cabs. Congrats on the new speaks, bought a single one of those a while back to pair with a v 30 for my kid and quite liked it.
Yeah! I am hoping this cab pairs well with my 1960B…I actually like the G12T-75s in it…probably an early 90s cab. I took it in return for recording services…I still like it as much as I did while recording it back then. I look forward to slapping some mic’s up soon!

So anyway….I had some stuff that I couldn’t avoid doing today, but when all was done….I finally put a fresh battery in the treble booster(thanks again @syscokid ) and fired up the Laney through the freshly mated stack…..HOLY S#!TSNACKS!!! Insanely massive!!!
Once I got through assaulting my sanity, I threw a few mic’s in place…only to realize that I have new neighbors, and I haven’t got a feel for their coolness factor yet….this thing is hammeringly loud, and it’s maybe getting late. Audio will be posted soon though…no promises of video, but maybe.

Update:
I finally took a stab at throwing up a few mic’s, recording audio in Reaper, and video with my iPhone.
It was a one take deal…laundry night don’t cha know…need work clothes for the morrow…can’t be recording with the dryer runnin’. ;)
So anyway, it starts with the Vibe Machine droning on a bit, but I shut it off after a few(using the black expression pedal).
Random stoner riffage. Hope anyone that listens enjoys the audio and video blending. A/V mixing and rendering done in Reaper.
Microphone list: upper cab, close mic’s - Sennheiser 421, Audix I5. Lower cab, close mic - Shure SM57. Room - Fat Head ribbon.
Amp head- Phaez Duophonic- Daisycutter channel.

I really wish that Rumble would be added to the list of embeddable media sites…not a YouTube user.

I have the Mojo BV-30V. It is their version of the Vintage 30. Right out of the box
it sounds pretty good. No harsh high end. I think it's a nice balanced speaker.

I also have the BV-25M. It's their version of a pre-rola greenback. It was a little
bright at first. After about 20 hours it has mellowed out nicely.
I really like this speaker even in my open back 1x12 cabinet.
