Need a 3 way switch for my Les Pauly that has a longer threaded section to accept the "ash tray" shield. The shield robs about .040" of threads.

Thoughts on this???

Make sure you got the proper Les Paul selector switch threaded nut or what ever ya want to call it.they are properly made with a longer threaded sleave part i will call it.

i think theres a pic of it on another of Roberts posts RVA. Or maybe Ivan posted a pic of the selector switch shield but i do believe it was his Mothers LPC he looked at.i didnt have a clue they had used those either.Ive seen the copper kinda metal they put in some but never those metal shields.learn somethin new every day

Can I see this sheild please?

Ok, RVA...in the high end Gibson's, there were shields around the jack, a 2 piece in the control cavity and a two piece ash tray that completely houses the switch. I have ordered up all of them for my Les Paul Custom Project. Here are what pics I could find for you...

Thank you. I do not think my Custom Shop Gibsons have such sheilds. I will look

RVA,

Gibson started this to eliminate EFI/RFI Interference. It was also found on Mom's Les Paul Recording model, as well as the Les Paul Custom.

It is said that Gibson stopped doing it because it wasn't necessary....but these old models are dead quiet, even around fluorescent lights...

So does the Lesters with the switch sleaves or shields use the short switches ??? plus if you notice the round nut for the switch on the ones you found is different than the longer Gibson switch i got.mine has a longer sleave on the threaded part if you look.this goes down in the plastic washer
