Mesa 50 Caliber, 2 6l6, pull gain channel, Mesa EQ( holy crap) basically this is the raw amp was searching for. Tried recto's..Express, DC's, Mark 3 & 4. I do dig the 5 & the Rec Roadster.

Having the first run Celestion/Marshall Vintage & first run t75(65) mesa's kill on the Marshall cabs. ( don't do scooped) so Mesa used with the mids..is very much in the mix.the attack is insane. actually took me about 2 days to adjust,,once you do..the clarity in the chords even under tremendous gain is amazing.

It loves the Firebird with the ceramics & the JB..Invader will make an appearance soon. Interesting how all these amps..get them with the right pickups. & cabs..not much needed but a cord. 5 new songs are already in loopers since the mesa's showed up..in D standard..Drop D for a batch starting off Side B. Soon as i plugged in today..instant song..like a southern doom with a melody line or sumthin like that.

The DC5 was my favorite of all the amps brought in to my studio for recording work...followed very closely by a random 5150 head that was pushing my 1960b cab(That I got as partial payment for recording the DC5)....I’m betting your 50cal is pretty darned sweet when pushed! Congratulations sir!
I only worked 3 songs with that 5150, but I did a whole album worth with the DC5....it had great definition! Excellent clarity! Best of luck sir!

Right on !! The Mesa's into the Greenbacks is very rewarding also, to move the mids a bit & def with V30's. Have 4 dif V30's and they sure all do record very well.

I think if you approach with a slight Marshall mentality.. get the tight palm mute & those singing leads. Then mix in a 5150 or Marshall..man its going to be a fun Side B.

The "least complicated" Boogie amp, it has a great sound even when used for Hi Fi.

My condolences to you and your family brother, sounds as if she had a very good life.

50 Cal+ has become the main amp. Sorta in the down the middle range baseline tone that seem to identify with. Simple tight crunch & leads that pop, takes all the guitars nice. Responded well to the v30/75-- tight..records well. On 1960bx..with greenbacks gets that classic old school sound. Seems to have landed permanently on the Orange cab.

Have to give props to the DSL 50. As mess with these mesa's... learned how to dial it in a bit dif & really brought the amp up into a zone, There was some heavier tighter sound in it but i didn't have anything to a/b. The a/b ing madness has revealed to me so much about amps..how you can really dial em in. Put a looper on & a/b box & starting turning dials ..using your ears... amazing how similar they can get..especially on the same cab.

Starting to realize how much the speaker plays the role... think we jump ship on amps before we extract all its potential sometime..sure have been guilty of that. Amazing how a guitar change or mic angle change can go from worst thing ever to the best recorded tone. It's fun
