Harmony Les Paul Copy

Couldn't find a picture of mine, but this is identical to the one my folks bought me from Montgomery Ward for Christmas, 1978...and my bridge pickup was backwsrds too!!!!!



It had a lot of issues. There was a hump in the neck and notes would fret out. We ended up returning it and Mom and Dad bought me a Duncan Quarter Pounder for the 1959 Sears Silvertone to replace the Danelectro lipstick pickup.

That Sears Silvertone was main guitar until 1982!!!

lol I had a "Jr." style Harmony LP copy walnut color as my first "real" electric. lol Bolt neck goodness

And no mention of the 1959 Silvertone (my Mom gave me in 1975) would be complete without the 2011 restoration images...

The completed Silvertone was presented back to my Mother on her 71st birthday in 2011...

was like 79.00 back in the day ... they are on Reverb Selling for 300.00 now lol

I remember when I was around 6 years old (in 1970), my family went to Sears. I saw the electric guitars and was very impressed. I asked my mom if I could have one, she said it was too expensive. (I have a real strange memory, especially of my childhood). That may be what got me interestef in guitars.

The 1959 Silvertone and amp cost $59.00 brand new when my Dad bought it for my Mom...

I remember our home and studio being full of instruments, but most were acoustic. The 1959 Silvertone was in a closet for many years, before Mom gave it to me.

Before that, I only knew about and played acoustic guitars.

My first real exposure to an electric guitar was at Buck Owens Studio in Bakersfield in the early 1970's. Mom was recording some tracks and Buck's guitarist - Terry Christofferson - pulled a Les Paul off the rack and sat down in the control room - with producer Jim Shaw at the console - and just started laying down tracks.

I remember sitting next to him and just being in total amazement....
