If you’re just looking to record, and/or have some PA gear for amplification, I’m really digging this preamp/compressor rig for bass.

Universal Audio 6176: phenomenal on bass guitar....also vocals, and drums...making up my mind on guitars still today. A bit pricey if purchased new, but the used market turns up reasonably priced examples occasionally.

Most all bass amps I have owned have been Peavey, with my favorite all around being a Combo 300. Recording wise I use a DI box with amp/cab simulation or straight into an interface type thing. Although I've never really been able to capture my favorite bass tones from the original Alice Cooper band recordings.

I just ordered an Ampeg PF350 b stock head from Sweetwater for $259. Should arrive Friday. Still looking at cab options at this point. Found an old Fender monster that has an 18 and 2 10s for a couple hundred. Might check that out.
Big fan of Ampeg, been playing pf heads since they came out. The pf350 is a good head. 2 x10's or tens will be punchy svt like or 15 ported will do more of the deep round sound i call it. use to gig 15 bottom 2 x10' on top for smaller venues..sounded killer. . Pre amp knob has a lot of influence with volume. learning the pre & post volume is key to dialing them in. Always thought they had very good dynamics with finger attack..not quite like a tube..but very good. Solid performer for sure !! Congrats

Not yet. The Orange cab has the SpeakOn and the Ampeg has regular 1/4 plugs.

This sounds pretty good through the phones.

Speaker outs are by the fan. Also has a loop and direct out.
Oh, trust me, I already looked ;) that’s why I asked.
I’ve been down that road a couple of times...my old bass cab, and my JBL PA mains have SpeakOn connections....the power amps used with them have/had 1/4 inch out or banana plugs only. My TC bass head has SpeakOn output only...I no longer have a bass cab with a SpeakOn connector. Go figure.
I have a few of those adapters kicking around for the occasional need.

edit: I made a pair of cables for my PA mains by purchasing a single 50 foot SpeakOn speaker cable, cutting it in half, and installing the appropriate connectors on the cut ends.
