New Holiday Project

That is one fine looking project Don, mighty fine looking!

I've got a project that never got started. It's a LP style body with a Strat neck I was going to call this Mind Bender. However I'm not sure if or when I'll ever finish my project and this project of Don O's looks to be deserving of the title Mind Bender

Well I’m gonna drill the pup ring screw holes and the locking tuner screw holes today.

I might have to re-think the custom engraved neck plate:

The Wrat
Mind
Bender

Hmmmmm....

DonO What a nice project!! This baby is going to look marvelous when its complete! Looking forward to the build! Really like the shape of the body and the hardware, as Goldmember would say that is some SHEXXXXYY!

Drilled some holes and finished mounting most of the hardware. Not sure where to locate the upper strap lock button. Open to suggestions...

Tony Iommi used to put them in the upper/outer edge of the top horn. I prefer the back of the neck joint. I've seen the bolt-on neck Epiphone S-G's with a straplocks on the necknplate.

Very interesting build. It doesn't look "off" which surprised me!!!

Thanks for the suggestions. I was gonna use Shaller strap locks but changed my mind to just a button and a D'Addario locking strap. The temp neck plate gets delivered today, I think I'll try using the NE neck plate screw to mount the button. No hole to drill !
That's a good idea. Hopefully you'll like the way the guitar balances with that setup.

So I needed a 12mm Forstner drill bit for the kill switch since I didn't have any metric ones. On Saturday I went to Amazon and here's one for $13. Well just below it is a set of 5 metric bits for $23. So, living by the motto that you can never have too many tools, I bought the 5 piece set. The kill switch, temp neck plate and drill bits arrive today. Hot dang, I can screw on the neck and drill the kill switch hole.
HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM. Seems that the idiot that ordered the drill bits didn't read that the 5 piece set was from 15mm to 35mm. Not a 12mm bit to be had :bash:

I did mount the strap button with the face plate screw though.

Some observations too. The Gotoh bridge has the same, small, slot size for all 6 strings and notice the Gotoh tuners have the G-B-E strings with a lower post/hole to help with the string angle.
