5th build

Ambassador of the Guitarded
This project has been in storage for 7 months, it's for my wife (a devotee of 12 string guitars), finally I've struck a blow.
It arrived with it's bits and pieces a little like this ...

Way back when I un-boxed it I saw the neck and routing didn't line up, all would have to move south. This week I also found the distance from the nut to 12th fret was less than 12th fret to the bridge :-(

Work out the correct placement, (I have been told to say, "With my wifes help" :-)) factory pre-drilled holes plugged, new ones drilled and extended routing taped out.

All done, enough for today ... time for a beer and then sit on a bottle of red :-)

Any suggestions where to find a reasonable quality BLACK Jazzmazter pickup for the neck?
The kit comes with a standard Tele neck arrangement and pick guard. Don't want to cover the spalted maple with a pick guard and we both like Jazzmaster tone.

Gunna think long and hard on how to make that heavy looking headstock more attractive.
My last two builds have a look that I'm thinking of making my (unofficial) trademark, but it may not work on this kit :-(
My KCW initials are OK as I'm making/assembling but would have to get rid of the "Gasket" name and put something personal for my wife.

Today I changed the neck pickup routing to take a Jazzmaster, all good.
Question, two possible orientations for the pickup.
1 as shown in both photos.
2 (not shown) would require the wires to take a little road trip back to the pre drilled hole.
Does it matter, if so how do I test for correct orientation?

NICE WORK -- is that GUitarfetish Jazzmaster pup?

Yep, sent from some place called Fluoridea or something like that ;-)

Any taker on my question? As it sits in first photo is it correct, do I rotate it 180' or it doesn't matter???????????

that "quick plug" throws off my normal response -- most bucker and soap bars have the wires exiting at a corner ....not BACK across the pup normally I would say the side the connection wires exit the pup go TOWARD the control cavity........but -- you connection wires "exit pointing the OTHER direction......

perhaps and email to GFS would answer?

Email sent! Auto reply received saying high volume of traffic, they'll get back to me.

As a general rule, do these pickups have a low "E" side and a high "e" side? HELP :-)

And the answer is: No difference! ... Right?

So... the neck and body initially did not align properly. What led to this?

Correct no difference.

Neck is a snug fit in body pocket and yes not aligned with body routing. Not the reason for fitting a neck Jazzmaster, that was my wife's choice of pickup.
String and bridge screw holes had to be plugged and pickup re positioned both forward and left. Neck routing was opened up for JM pup. Now no pickguard is requited, spalting won't be covered.
