$ 450 pickups in a $ 200 guitar

I spent $1K on upgrading the Schecter I bought for $300

I lost track of the actual cost of the Von Herndon Double Neck, but I came in well below the new Gibson EDS-1275 I was looking at:

Can you tell that the above image from Gibson was my inspiration???

But I can tell you that it has 20 feet of copper tape in it... :)

Me too. I put a pair of golden T-tops with engraved Gibson Logo into a cheap Sammick Royale which can unfortunately not make full use of these PUs.

GO BEA!!!! My first Les Paul back around 1982 had uncovered T tops.
When I got my 1st Epiphone guitar, it was a LP Std. I JUST HAD TO.............. I went and bought a pair of uncovered T Tops with date stamps on back a mere day or 2 apart from 1979.
I think they ran me in the $300-$350 range.

Last week,, I sold a pair of PRS 53/10 pickups for $ 450. Don't worry, I have a more. This is one such pair.

These pups presently occupy a H-S-H Squire Affinity Strat. The 53/10s are the neck and bridge humbuckers, The middle pickup is a Bill Lawrence (Wilde Pickups) L45S. The clip is as follows:

Neck & Middle

Bridge
Bridge & Middle

So, what do you think of this tonewood these pickups?

Ray, I flat out dig that green glitter Strat. I used to have a cool skateboard helmet in green glitter like that. I sure would love to find your guitar's twin and make it my next Strat, I like it so much.

you were supposed to wear a helmet?
in my early to mid teens there were skate parks and 1/2 pipes around, cool time to be a skater.
I was pretty good at it too but a tier below the really top guys.
One local guy I knew turned pro, Jeff Jones.

skate "parks" ----- we didnt have those --- we tied a ski rope to the back of a moped--- dirt bike or three wheeler and got towed through the hills and curves of NE Ohio roads.......yep--- we wherent very bright.......
HEre I have proof --made the local papers--- (wasnt the first OR LAST time) of one of my asphalt surfing adventures----- the neighbor broke his ankle at low speed -- in the DRIVEWAY--- how silly!

I feel really out of place. I put $34.00 dollar Guitar Head pickups in a $2800.00 dollar guitar.
The ones that I installed at 4:00 am and dropped the magnet that I was trying to flip. It is flipped and they are way above their price tag. I took out the P90s because that is not the reason to play a Les Paul. Humbuckers in Strats and single coils in a Lester is completely off. You put lapels on a pajama top all you want but it will never be a dinner jacket.

And to think...the whole time you were driving me around Orlando last year, I was in the presence of a pop shove-it master.

Or maybe not...

Love it.

I started skating in the mid-70's just like every other kid at the time. Actually kept it up until just 4 years ago when I got a hernia and the Dr. traced it to my skating (keep in mind I was skating parks/pools, so there was a lot of centrifugal force going on) and told me to quit or risk another. I miss it greatly, and would definitely still be at it today if it wasn't for that and despite all the broken bones over the years (the ribs always hurt the worst).

I did a ramp-to-ramp bike jump when I was a kid....down a long hill with a tilt trailer for a ramp, over 4 tractors. Neighbors came from all around to watch.

The Speedo on my Raleigh BMX bike was pegged at 45 mph when I hit the ramp. Everything went good and I cleared the tractors just fine, but on landing, I sheared the crank in two and I came down on the seat hard enough to see sparks. I drove the seat pole into the frame so hard we couldn't get it back out. Cracked frame, bent forks, flattened rims...I killed the bike.

I never let anyone know I was hurting...but I had one nut that looked like a plum the next morning.

I would go on to even bolder jumps on a motorcycle....

Yah, bikes will get you in trouble. The worst injuries I've ever had, worst than from skating, came from mountain biking. Don't do that much any more either, and also miss it.

Never got the urge to ride a motorcycle. When I was around 10 years old I was riding in a car my mom was driving and a guy on a motorcycle ran a red light and t-boned her car. Seeing the results of that effectively made me hate motorcycles for life, at least for use in urban areas.

Broke the same arm 2 more times-- shattered the hand-- and broke the left arm once and the wrist twice.....all the fingers... leg-- ribs--- riding motorcycles---
I still ride-- not as AGGRESSIVELY -- dont ride motocross anymore -- to old--large and slow for actual "racing" Ive seen friends go down -- I know how asphalt feels as I am flung across it-- I know the sound of a motorcycle sliding on asphalt NOT on its wheels-- and I still ride....and I will till I can not draw a breath or stable the bike .....it is the only time all the other voices in my head SHUT THE "F" UP and I can focus 100 % and have calm -- clarity ---

well that went on a rant of sorts eh?

Adrian, at 7 or 8 years old I saw a friend's Binelli mini bike catalog and was hooked on having to have a dirtbike one day, come hell or high water. At 15 I bought my first, a used 1976 RM125. It was stolen 5 days later. I still get things stolen from me to this day. This is the deepest hatred I have in life. When a person works to earn money to buy things he needs or for simple pleasure, then those too lazy to work for things go out and steal the very thing it took years upon years to finally save up enough to acquire. Nothing worse than a Jagoff lazy crook.
