Vintage tuners. Specs claim a 1950's inspired neck profile. The 2017 Gibson Les Paul Studio, however, claims a slim-taper, so maybe this 2016 is the .951" neck???

My high school colors were red and black. My first thought on seeing that was our cheer:

Oomph, umgawa, black and red pow ah....

At least there is some BLACK in that gorgeous LP Studio...love them guitars. I have a 2008 black Gibson LP Studio that is chambered and the sound is fantastic on it. The neck on it feels a bit fat...maybe a 50's profile. Don't know if they made them that way in the year I mentioned.

I was checking them out on Stratosphere - you, know, thinking of buying a husk like Smitty did - and the price is higher than I can buy a new (complete) Gibson Studio Les Paul...

Buying a current model husk is the one time you'll have some savings over buying the equivalent new. I kept tabs waiting for Stratosphere to get New inventory, and when they did, I got mine. I saved some cash over New, not much. But I didn't have to rip the guts out just to put my own in. And it was fun.

Well, you have a point...getting rid of the PCB and factory pickups seems inevitable.

I thought about building one up at one time and after pricing everything out it didn't make sense, was more than buying a complete guitar. But (and this is a big one) I prefer and would have used Gibson pickups to build it up and the PCBs don't bother me so I wouldn't remove one from a guitar just for the sake of changing it out (that being said only one of my guitars has one, the '17 SG Standard).

Do you notice any more or less noise with your PCB equipped Gibson???

No joke - that is a classy looking headstock. I hate the normal Epi one so much I can't even look at it.

Agreed! I have considered buying this model in the past, largely because of the more "original" headstock design, but I still kinda see it as a China model, even though it seems everything is being made thete nowadays.
