So what was for Christmas dinner?

I made sweet potato soup, lol. I'm in Holland for Christmas and my in-laws are planning the big meal for today, so we just wanted something light yesterday and I offered to make soup. Usually in the UK it'd be a veggie centerpiece that I'd think up, plus stuffing, roast potatoes, sprouts, various vegetables chosen to please everyone, chestnuts, a dessert that I make and cheese and biscuits later. Plus the usual snacks, chocolates, olives, nuts etc.

Today our dinner includes blinis with toppings, salad with meats, fish, veggie cutlets, a cheeseboard, nuts, snacks, cheese and pineapple on sticks, profiteroles, chocolate spoons with cream on, a chocolate pudding, apple cake...

We had the traditional western Norwegian salted and dried mutton rib with mashed swede, brussels sprouts and potatoes on Christmas eve. We buy the mutton from a farmer that keeps a wild breed of sheep. The meat from the wild sheep is slightly leaner and a bit more gamey tasting than regular mutton. This might be my favorite meal ever.

On Christmas day we had poached cod with potatoes and sugar marinated carrots. We serve the cod with a creamy butter sauce and sweet mustard. This year's cod was probably some of the best fish I've ever had. It was bought straight off the boat (slaughtered when we bought it) two days before it was prepared, and kept on ice. The flesh becomes firmer if you keep it cold like that for a day or two before preparing.

Today we're having pizza!:)

A Fender Stratocaster served on a bed of Marshall with plenty of side dishes such as .09-.46 strings, a large helping of OD, all sprinkled with a touch of delay. For desert, we had PRS with piezo icing. It was fantastic!!

Was home alone with a severe case of vertigo. So dizzy I was afraid to eat much so I had some dry biscuits and coffee. Took my evening meds and went back to bed. Had slept 42 hours in the last 48. Santa rode past me this year.... oh well, probably a good thing as I would have likely shot him as a burglar!

My sympathy to you and all who suffer vertigo.
15 years ago I was diagnosed with Meniere's disease, fortunately low level and since retiring 10 years back I'm good at living with it. Some days I take it real easy, others I don't notice any problem. Avoid salt and coffee as much as possible. My best wishes to you.

This year all our normal plans were not going to happen, so instead of the usual turkey fest for 6-10 people, it was just my wife and myself.

Plus, she is getting over a cold, so I made a nice Cantonese chicken soup with noodles for her and I had beef and shrimp with lots of veggies in a Thai style coconut curry.

Our meal was simple. Just ham, stuffing, scalloped corn, and vegetables.

Oh, there was also left-over pizza from my son's birthday the day before!

House full of kids and critters here.

LOTS of noise and smiles and fun... Ham Turkey all the trimmings.

Wade I hope your feeling better today.

Lots of great dishes including honey roasted ham, rib roast, sweet potatoes, italian green string bean garlic dish, eggplant parmesean and lots of other sides and appetizer picking food. Christmas eve is at the huge family of my brother in laws in laws.
Then Christmas day was a much smaller group of 9 at our house.
i'm not big on deserts but my wife makes a plain cheese cake and a carrot cake that i love and have, in fact almost caused fist fights over the last slice.
Not in our house but we I have brought cakes in to the office.

Now i"m waiting for my blood profile to come back around to a more normal state for me so I can go for routine blood work.
But there are leftovers so it may have to wait a bit......

We went to a friends house for a small gathering. Ham, lasagna, sweet potato casserole, wild rice, 5 kinds of Rum, 4 types of beer, 3, pies, 2 cakes, and 1 hell of a case of indigestion.

Sorry to hear that, old Brother. Hope you get well! Btw I'll PM you later.

Here in Brazil we have the Christmas eve roast turkey tradition.

I'm single again, so I spent the holidays with my parents. We had the roast turkey dressed with honey, pineapple and peaches. Brazilians call this recipe "Peru à Califórnia" (California style Turkey), but I never really saw it in any American book or website.

The sidedishes were mashed potatoes, potato/apple/mayo salad, farofa (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Farofa :D) and rice.

We did Prime rib, a 6.5 pound standing rib roast.
With 2 big ol' bones for the dog.
Seared the outside to seal in the flavor & make a nice herb crust, than cooked it slow & low.
A couple of baked potatoes and some creamed spinach rounded out the meal.

Looks like we'll be eating prime rib sandwiches for a couple days now too.

Apologies, I tend to use "in-laws" rather than "boyfriend's parents" but we aren't married. We've been together for 10 years though, which is longer than plenty of marriages!
